Otter.ai Raises $320M from General Catalyst to Make Voice the Backbone of Enterprise Productivity

Otter.ai closed $320 million in growth financing from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund on October 20, 2026. The AI notetaker, which counts more than 40 million users and teams at over 86% of the Fortune 500, will use the capital to expand enterprise growth, international reach, and agentic workflows built on its speech recognition.

On October 20, 2026, Otter.ai announced the closing of $320 million in growth financing from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund (CVF). The Mountain View company said the new capital will accelerate its enterprise growth, go-to-market strategy, international expansion, and product innovation as it builds toward becoming "the definitive knowledge layer for enterprises, where every conversation is captured, connected, and turned into action."

The round rests on scale: Otter reports more than 40 million users worldwide, including teams at over 86% of the Fortune 500, with more than 1 billion meetings transcribed and over $1.5 billion in customer ROI through time saved. Built on in-house automatic speech recognition and what the company calls the most accurate speaker identification in the industry, Otter has expanded from a notetaker into Otter Meeting Agents — voice-activated agents that join meetings, answer questions, and complete tasks.

CEO Sam Liang framed the financing as "a powerful vote of confidence in what we're building at Otter," adding that it "will fuel our next chapter, enabling us to build enterprise agentic workflows that bring more advanced, intelligent AI to teams everywhere and push toward a future where voice becomes the backbone of enterprise productivity." Pranav Singhvi, Partner and Co-founder of CVF at General Catalyst, said: "Voice is one of the biggest untapped opportunities in enterprise AI, and Otter is at the forefront of it." Otter's earlier backers include Spectrum Equity, Horizon Ventures, and Draper Associates.

The investment positions Otter against a crowded field of AI meeting-intelligence rivals, including Fathom and Fireflies, while extending a busy month for voice AI funding across the industry. Otter's stated ambition is to become the "voice system of record" for enterprises — capturing conversation data and turning it into searchable intelligence, automated action items, and agentic workflows that sync with the tools teams already use.
